BlazBlue - Pink Taokaka Cosplay by AngelCostumes BlazBlue - Pink Taokaka Cosplay by AngelCostumes
So I finally got some shots back of my Taokaka costume when I wore it to Katsucon this year. And they look AWESOME. AWESOME.

So this is the Tao costume I had progress of in this gallery and finished up at the end of January...ended up wasting time competing in the masquerade at Ohayocon instead of doing awesome pictures...

ANYWAYS.

This is the full-body. Shows off pretty much anything (SHOES). Hope you like!

Photo by the ever so incredibly talented SolarTempest...check out all his galleries here - [link]

Feel free to follow me on FaceBook is you like my stuff...I post a lot more updates, progress pictures and finished costume photos on that page - [link]

May I ask how you made your cosplay outfit? This August I plan on going as Taokaka and Torakaka for Otakon. I just wondered what template or sewing pattern you used for this costume.:)

To be honest, I started this costume so long ago, I don't even remember what the base pattern was. I want to say it was a basic tunic pattern that was just modified, but I do remember the sleeves being drafted. They were made like a baseball shirt sleeve (in which there was like, a bottom panel...3 seams, 2 on the bottom and the shoulder seam). I mean, I'd be glad to offer whatever advice I can, but it's been so long. If there's anything specific or any tips you'd like, let me know as that's really all the stuff I can offer to you.

I send you a note a while ago about a commission but I never heard back. Are you open for commissions?

I do apologize for the delay in getting back to you, but I've just been slammed with work and stuff around the house.

In terms of commissions, I am always taking them, but it really depends on what kind of time I have for a project. Like, if I were to take on something now, I wouldn't be able to really start on it until after Halloween...

I understand, I was just wondering if something like a Taokaka hoodie would be possible though at this point I think the whole cosplay might be easier...

This is fantastic. Nice to see more colored Taokaka cosplays. I'm hoping to cosplay her soon myself. And as everyone else said the shoes as fabulous. I was wondering if you made them or if you chopped the heels off of some sort of shoe. Any advice?

I believe they were just high heeled knee high boots, that I cut the heel off, and then trimmed the actual fabric part down to make them a calf-high boot (then finished the top of the boot with bias tape).

But yeah, just basic high-heeled pleaser brand boots with the heel knocked off...nothing too special.

Mine were made from pieces cut out of a sheet of wood, sanded, then covered with spot putty (Bondo brand) to cover up the wood grain, sanded, and then painted.

This is a beautiful cosplay! I was just wondering if you could tell me how you made the mask and how you're able to change faces with it. Thank you! Also are the claws removable?

The mask is a chipboard base that was fiberglassed and then smoothed out with body filler. It was then painted with a magnetic paint, and then covered with a thin black fabric (so I could see). The mouth pieces and eyes are all backed with magnets, so they can be switched out.

And yes, the claws are removable, but I prefer to leave them in as they provide a way to keep the arms like...posable (so they don't look like they're flopped over).

Man, comments like that make me SO HAPPY...seriously, it feels good to get a comment like that from someone who actually knows what's up in this hobby (because lets face it, your costumes are pretty kick ass in every way).

So thank you, I really do appreciate it! :D

Hahaha, you're very kind, though you seem to think me muuuuch better than I am, I have a hilariously flying-by-the-seat-of-pants style of making shit, you seem way more organized and on top of making things clean.

Construction isn't everything to me yo...lol

I really like the majority of your stuff because you can tell you're actually into it and not just doing shit for attention, etc...

I'd rather see real expression of fandom then fake attention whores everywhere. Plus your style/character choices are pretty awesome (seriously, your Oktavia costume fucking ROCKS).

Hahaha, I know, you're just a super better seamster than I am, I'd flip tables if I had to sew mostly. Oh I'll be the first to admit that I love the attention, but that's just a side effect of just REALLY WANTING to do something, I'm sure you understand, your character choices are pretty boss too. Srsly, your poofy pink Madoka and my Oktavia shoot, FUND IT.

They're just resin casts with a reflective silver card stock backing. I might remove them and try to redo them with a magnetic backing so they can be changed out as well (the mask has a magnetic primer so I can change the mouths).

Excellently done mask-- and I very much like your attention to details on those shoes! Very hard to walk in, I expect? Probably even worse than just high heels. All in all, it's totall worth it, and you look very much like Taokaka.

Haha, so taking a photoshoot would be most difficult for Tao. Makes sense from both a literal cosplay standpoint and from Tao's hyperactive low-attention span styled personality.
